30.03.2023. Opening of the exhibition of paintings by Nadezhda Liventseva and Vladimir Krivoblotsky "THE GREAT TEACHER", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's Artist of Belarus Leonid Shchemelev

On March 30, 2023, the Leonid Shchemelev Art Gallery hosted the opening of the exhibition of paintings by Nadezhda Liventseva and Vladimir Krivoblotsky "THE GREAT TEACHER", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's Artist of Belarus Leonid Shchemelev.

The influence of Leonid Shchemelev's work on the pictorial culture of Belarus in the second half of the XX century is enormous, and his life path as an artist and citizen is a high example of creative longevity, spiritual maturity and life wisdom. Leonid Shchemelev was not only an outstanding artist, but also a great teacher.

The exhibition "THE GREAT TEACHER" united the work of two students of Leonid Dmitrievich, completely different masters – Nadezhda Liventseva and Vladimir Krivoblotsky.

Nadezhda Liventseva's works – subtle, permeated with inner light – are based on combinations of exquisitely beautiful pure tones, born from the contact of the artist's soul with the soul of flowers, trees, mountains, sky – the eternal and wise spirit of nature.

In the works of Vladimir Krivoblotsky, monumental and decorative art (mosaic, stained glass, levkas) and easel painting actively interact. His creativity is determined by philosophy, the ability to organize a large architectural environment.

Despite the difference in the styles of the artists, it was Leonid Shchemelev who laid in his students the love of art and the foundations that formed the unique creative approach of each master in the future. The life of a Great teacher continues in the works of his students.
