The international action "Night of Museums – 2023" has once again become a bright event in the life of Polotsk. The staff of the Museum of Local Lore prepared for the residents of Polotsk and guests of the city a new interesting exhibition "ProSOVTORG, or the development of trade in Polotsk in 1919-1991", which became the venue for a number of events.
Many interesting facts from the history of Soviet trade, discovered by museum workers in archives and on the pages of periodicals, made it possible to prepare an exciting quest for inquisitive visitors. With pleasure, both adults and children searched for the right goods, examined banknotes and documents of previous years, read advertisements about the work of trusts and syndicates in Polotsk almost 100 years ago. A pleasant surprise for the museum was the sponsorship of the management of VSETORG LLC in the person of Said Lesfer and EAKMARKET LLC in the person of Director El Aarabi Karim, which allowed awarding prizes to the winners of the intellectual game.
The lecture "The shadow sides of Soviet trade" by the Candidate of Historical Sciences, associate professor of the Polotsk State University named after Efrosinia Polotskaya E. V. Sumko also gathered a full hall. At the end of the meeting, the participants asked the lecturer numerous questions and shared their memories of the trading system in the city.
The last visitors of the museum, who left it before closing, thanked the staff for the opportunity to once again experience the mystery of the museum night, as well as their patience and work.
