Jubilee 30th International Festival of Old and Modern Chamber Music will be held in the Concert hall of St. Sophia Cathedral from March 28 to April 27 and will be dedicated to the 1155th anniversary of Polotsk. 30 years is a whole epoch, and more than one generation of musicians and listeners has grown up at Polotsk festivals. This musical project originates in the distant 1988 and after many years remains a significant event not only for Polotsk, but for the whole Republic of Belarus. The atmosphere of the holiday attracts more and more fans and connoisseurs of musical art every year. This year the festival is dedicated to the 1155th anniversary of Polotsk.

Within the festival, the Open regional children's piano competition "J. S. Bach and the 21st Century" will again be held. Previous competition caused a great public resonance, provided a unique opportunity for talented children and teenagers to demonstrate their skills on the famous scene of St. Sophia Cathedral. 41 young pianists from 8 cities of Belarus: Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Shumilino, Beshenkovichi, Vitebsk, Zhodino, Novolukoml, Mogilev will take part in the 2nd competition. The level of the performance will be evaluated by a competent jury headed by the Professor Gerlindey Otto from University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar (Germany). The competition will be held on March 28-30.

The jubilee festival will be opened by the leading music group of the country - the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Belarus under the direction of the State Prize of Belarus, Honored Artist of Russia, People's Artist of Belarus Alexander Anisimov. In the concert on April 4, music by P. Tchaikovsky and S. Rachmaninov will be performed. The best soloists of the world performed in accompaniment of the orchestra. Therefore, it is especially pleasant that as a soloist of this festival, Polotsk citizen, laureate of international competitions, pianist Arseny Sadykov will perform with the orchestra.

On April 7, "Auner-Quartett" will introduce listeners to the music of Austrian composers. The staff of the team is international, but Vienna united them and became their second homeland. Vienna classical style of sound production and high level of performance have brought popularity to the quartet. "Auner-Quartett" successfully performs all over the world.

"Soul at the tip of the bow" is a wonderful gift for fans of chamber music. On April 11, the brilliant musicians Mark Drobinsky and Aleksei Petrov will perform for the first time on the stage of St. Sophia Cathedral. Mark Drobinsky, a student of Mstislav Rostropovich, is called the cello master, a master of high flying, a Russian romanticist, a genius. The maestro plays on the unique instrument of the 18th century made by the Italian master Testore. Aleksei Petrov, one of the brightest representatives of the Belarusian piano school, conquers the best halls of the world, participates in international festivals, competitions, projects with the legendary performers of the 20th century.

On April 20, the ensemble “Vivaldi” of the Belarusian Union of Musicians, the choir of the Belarusian State Academy of Music, soloists of the National Academic Bolshoi Theater of the Republic of Belarus Tatyana Gavrilova (soprano) and Natalia Akinina (mezzo-soprano) will perform Baroque music: A. Vivaldi “The Seasons” and J. Pergolesi “Stabat Mater”. Organ player - Ksenia Pogorelaya.

2017 in Belarus is declared the Year of Italian Culture. On April 23, in the concert hall of the St. Sophia Cathedral, the Italian organist and composer Eugenio Fagiani will present the world premiere of his composition to the Belarusian public - Concerto for organ and chamber orchestra C-dur. Honor for the first time to perform the work is entrusted to the chamber orchestra "Europe-Center", which is led by Rail Sadykov. And behind the organ there will be the author himself - Eugenio Fagiani.

The festival will end on April 27 with a concert dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. With the assistance of the Goethe Institute, the ensemble of ancient music "The Playfords" from Germany will perform, which will perform Renaissance music on historical instruments.
