The Polotsk Cadet Corps

In 1835, the Polotsk Cadet Corps was opened in the buildings of the former Jesuit collegiums. The children of officers, military officials and hereditary noblemen have the right to study in the university. Education in the corps lasted 7 years.

After the end of the main course, the Polotsk cadets got the right to enter military schools. The Cadets studied the Law of God, Russian, German and French, History, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Natural Science, Drawing, Music, Singing. Considerable attention was paid to drill exercises, swimming, gymnastic exercises, and fencing. Amount the military science there were tactics, artillery, military history and fortification.The Polotsk Cadet Corps worked until September 1914.
